Services ‘old and new’, all aimed at providing estates and facilities departments with accurate building information, to be shown by Topscan, will include the company’s new Electronic Room Monitoring service.
The company explained: “Using a discreet piece of technology no bigger than a matchbox, we can monitor room movement over a 24/7 period so that actual room use can be confirmed, and informed estates rationalisation decisions then made. The units are typically placed within a room for a fourweek period so that patterns, and a good spread of information, can be collected, and a robust plan of action completed to make the best use of space. Building owners or occupiers need no longer continually visit a site to determine the degree of use, or rely on staff to provide details of their occupancy.” Topscan says one recent NHS Trust user was able to merge two services into a single building, saving it £60,000 a year.
