Socomec Sicon UPS systems have been chosen to provide full power protection for the Hammersmith Hospital NHS Trust. Eta Projects was commissioned by the Trust to undertake a risk assessment of each of its sites and implement essential upgrade works to meet the expanding and critical demand of its IT infrastructure. Eta commissioned the advanced Delphys DS system, which has the benefits of a small footprint, extremely low harmonic re-injection and IGBT technology.

Clinically proven showerhead filter
Pall Medical has launched its clinically proven AQF3 Pall-Aquasafe disposable showerhead filter for the complete removal of waterborne bacteria, protozoa and fungal spores at the point of use (POU). This means hospitals can now provide high risk patients such as those on bone marrow, transplant, oncology, neonatology, burns and haematology units, with instant protection against waterborne infection.
Noise control
Winchester-based noise control specialist, IAC, was called in by Finning (UK) to supply noise control solutions for emergency standby generators within Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge. The two Caterpillar diesel standby generators were installed in a plant room directly beneath the Intensive Care recovery ward, with noise attenuation being a critical aspect of the project. The objective of the project was to maintain the best possible environment for patients should a national grid power failure occur.

Fabric reduces infection spread
Fabric pioneer Panaz has been selected by the Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital to help in its campaign against hospital-acquired infections. The company is supplying 20,000 metres of antibacterial Shield fabric for new cubicle and window curtains within the hospital. Included under the £215,000 contract is a commission to customise an existing Panaz design to incorporate the "RBCH" initials, thereby emphasising the hospital's unique identity.
Anti-microbial theatre lighting
In a move that sees it become the first company to produce anti-microbial operating theatre lighting, Brandon Medical is now supplying its Galaxy Ultra lighting with Polygiene antimicrobial treatment. Using a combination of specially treated silver ions and chemical agents, Polygiene breaks down and destroys harmful virus/bacteria/yeast cell walls. This action is effective against both SARS and MRSA.

When 72-bed family owned Bird's Hill nursing home in Bournemouth undertook the refurbishment of its kitchen, it turned to temporary kitchen provider CKS for a solution that ensured the continuity of stringent food safety standards.
Critical water safely dispensed
A new range of Aqua-Pure water filters from Cuno, for use in point of use water dispenser and drinking water systems, are designed to virtually eliminate bacteria from water for critical water dispensing applications.
